A private RSS feed has stopped showing me new episodes
-
Hello, crew. I subscribe to the daily Bulwark Podcast using a private RSS link. The pod is hosted on Substack. In part, the URL – without the private element – is:
https://api.substack.com/feed/podcast/87281/s/87957/private/I can paste the full URL into my browser to see the full feed, including recent episodes that have not appeared in Pocket Casts — either the Android app or the web app. Other private podcasts from the same crew are behaving as expected.
The web app says this feed has exactly 1000 episodes. All are “archived,” which is where I think completed episodes go to rest forever when they’ve been consumed. To my knowledge, there’s no episode maintenance task that I have missed that would make way for new episodes.
I am a software developer. That episode count — 1000 — draws my attention immediately. Have I run into some hard-coded episode limit? The other pods from the same crew have far fewer episodes and, as I’ve noted, behave well.
I did give the private URL to the web app again, just to see if shaking the data might make a difference. No love.
Thank you for your help.

Hi there, @fburleigh! Thanks for letting us know you are not seeing the current episodes for a private podcast. I’ve refreshed the feed so the podcast info is up to date now. You should be able to see the missing episodes now. If not, please refresh the episodes list. Let me know if you need help with anything else.

Hi Crew,
I’m having the same problem as the OP, with the same podcast (and my own private link to the same feed). I get exactly 1000 episodes shown of the private link to the Bulwark podcast, and refreshing, deleting and reinstalling, etc. have not helped.
I’m using Pocket Casts Plus on an iPhone 16. The same feed works fine with other podcast apps.
Could you help get me going, and is there another workaround for this?
Thanks for your help!

I searched for your private feed using the link above and I couldn’t find anything attached to your gmail address. Could you double check the email address used for linkning the private feed and share it with us?

Sure–and thanks for the quick reply.
The private feed goes to a different email address–how do I send the email address without posting it on the forum? :-)
Thanks!

@theexplainist Thanks for confirming! I’ll send you an email so you can share that RSS feed with us privately.
