A second of my feeds is not updating

    Hello, crew. I am subscribed to:

    lincolnproject.us/podcasts

    The latest item in the feed is May 9, yet there is at least one episode after that. This will be a second feed not updating itself in the last couple weeks. You fixed the earlier case with “refresh.” I don’t think the refresh available to me is as powerful as the one available to you.

    Thanks for reporting this! We are currently trying to locate the root issue on why this is podcast is not updating. Once I have any news, I will let you know as soon as possible.

  • Just following up regarding this.

    We’ve reached out to our development team regarding the issue and we’ve found that there is an error with the feed itself. It may be something that we can correct for on our end, though.

    We don’t have a timeline for a fix as of yet, but hopefully our developers will have one soon.

    Understood, @mikerockwell. Two things:

    1. The missing item appeared yesterday (on Android).
    2. I reviewed the feed’s markup before submitting this to you — I used to make RSS feeds by hand in the early days so this stuff is like an old friend — and thought geez Louise, yuck, good luck to everybody involved. CDATA’s doing more work than you’d really want.
    3. I know this is unfair but will report that Apple’s presentation of the feed didn’t lag which to me just means they’re way bigger so have seen and mitigated more junk. No offense intended. I appreciate your problem and thank you.

    Thanks so much for the thoughtful follow-up — and for taking a look at the feed yourself! You’re right: sometimes feeds with particularly complex or messy markup can trip things up, and Pocket Casts may handle those edge cases differently.

    That said, our developers are continuing to investigate whether there’s a reliable workaround we can apply on our end to better support this feed moving forward. We really appreciate your patience and the context you shared.

    @staff-frank, for the record, the last two pods in this feed arrived okay. Thanks to all involved.

  • @fburleigh I’m glad to hear that the latest two episodes appeared in the app as expected! Please let us know if you run into the issue in the future, though, that may give us an opportunity to gather more information about this.
