Android: Continues to play (silently) while alarm is going off
-
When I listen to a podcast and my phone alarm goes off, Pocket Casts keeps counting up the time until i stop the alarm, at which point I have to trace back to where I was. It correctly pauses for phone calls and other media apps, it’s just alarms that do this.
Does anyone else experience this?

Not exact same issue, rather the opposite – my Pocket Casts player on Android 15 (Fairphone 5) often stops playback! Very annoying! I suspect that it happens when a notification arrives, but it usually just fades down. When it stops it does not start again.
Just tested with a countdown alarm, and playback stopped immediately and continued after I stopped the alarm. However, I had to do the test twice, because first time it stopped playing due to a notification when the countdown had 3 seconds left. :-/ -

@aweibell For this one, since it may be a different issue, it’s best that you start a different thread.
In any case, for both your an @davidegustavsson, it would help to know which settings you have under Profile > Settings (gear icon) > Notifications, specifically for:
- Play over notifications
- Hide playback notification on pause
Please also let us know if you experience the same behavior with other media-playing apps.

Well, I thought I posted a separate issue, but it seems I did not get as far as to submit it, and now the text is gone from the form. :-/ Will try again :)

- Never
- Off
When Pocket Casts is in focus it successfully pauses. When it is not it doesn’t.
If Bluetooth headphones are connected it is muted while continuing playing, but if I’m listening through the phone speakers it actually just keeps playing.
The timer doesn’t show this problem, only the alarm.
