Android: Media Widget disappears on Lock Screen after pausing

  Switched from a Samsung S23 Ultra to Oppo Find X8 Pro. Everything’s normal with the app but when I lock the screen with a podcast playing and I pause the episode then go to play again the player disappears from the screen and the episode won’t start. I have to manually open the phone and then the app to start the episode again. I’ve tried all the fixes in the forum that’s been listed but still no fix. Any answers?

  Hi, @mrnobodyreviews! So far, I haven’t been able to replicate the issue you describe in testing.

  That said, we’re only using the default notification player provided by the Android OS. Can you see if the same behavior occurs with other music-playing apps?

  If the issue is only with Pocket Casts, can you please let us know which version of the app you’re using?

  No issues with other media players. Everything is normal when using YouTube music. Same issue still persists with Pocket Cast. I’m using version 7.85 (9329) I just deleted the app and reinstalled but still no resolution. Thanks.

  I’ve also tried to replicate this on a Galaxy S23 and haven’t been able to reproduce the behavior.

  Since the issue seems specific to Pocket Casts on your Oppo device, it might be related to how the Oppo OS interacts with the Android notification player.

  Could you please provide the following information:

  • Oppo Find X8 Pro OS version: What version of Android or ColorOS is running on your Oppo Find X8 Pro?
  • Pocket Casts settings: Are there any specific settings within the Pocket Casts app that you’ve customized, particularly related to notifications or playback?

  Also, could you please try the following:

  • Oppo battery optimization: Check your Oppo’s battery optimization settings for Pocket Casts. Some aggressive battery saving features can interfere with background processes and notification behavior. Try excluding Pocket Casts from battery optimization.
  • Oppo notification settings: Review your Oppo’s notification settings for the Pocket Casts app. Ensure that notifications are allowed and that there are no restrictions on background activity.
