Android Notifications

As oof recently, when I get a notification for a new podcast episode, the app no longer opens and displays that episode when I tap the notification on my locked screen. It simply clears the notification now.

Hi there! As a first step, please update the app to the latest version. Next, check the notification settings in the app:
- Open Pocket Casts.
- Tap the Profile tab.
- Tap the settings cog.
- Go to Notifications.
- Ensure New Episodes notifications are enabled.
- Select the podcasts you want to receive notifications for by tapping the bell icon on each show’s page.
Then, check the notification settings for your device. The instructions may vary depending on which version of Android and which phone or tablet you’re using.
- Go to your phone’s Settings > Apps > Pocket Casts > Notifications.
- Make sure notifications are allowed and set to show on the lock screen.
- Tap on “Advanced” and ensure Pop on screen, Sound, Lock screen, and related preferences are on
If you still need help with this, please contact our support team through the Pocket Casts app via “Profile > Help & Feedback > Contact Support > Get Support” so we can investigate this further. If possible, please provide a screen recording showing the issue.

Hello,
The issue isn’t that I’m not receiving notifications, it’s that when I receive them and tap them to launch the app so that can read the notes for a particular podcast, the notification clears and the app doesn’t launch. So then I have to launch the app and remember where the notification was from in order to access the notes for that podcast.

I am having the exact same issue. I get notifications but when clicking on them it used to go directly to that episode’s page within PocketCasts. Clicking the notification no longer does anything except remove the notification. Android.

Hi there, @lamkevin! Thanks for letting us know that you’re also seeing the notification issue. I checked on this and confirmed our team has fixed this issue. This will be available in the next app update, version 7.95. Please update the app when it’s available and let us know if notifications are still not working after updating. Thank you!

Hi. I’ve just noticed I have this same issue with the notifications disappearing. I’m on 7.94 but Android Play store says 7.94 is the latest version, it does not have 7.95. Does it take a few days to appear? Thank you

I believe it’s somewhat lengthy process to get a release approved for posting on Google Play.

Hi all, I’ll just update that in the beta version 7.95-rc-3 (9362), this doesn’t happen, so maybe there’s hope. 🙂

@dwmilligan03027406e7 @tsgcn, and @lamkevin, @yonigrady is right. We are releasing a potential fix for this issue with version 7.95 of the app, so please keep an eye out for when that version becomes available for your device.
