Android PC 7.77 breaks Pixel Buds Series-A ability to double tap fast forward.

Pixel Buds Series A
Android Pocketcast Version 7.77 (9286)
When I double tap the right earbud to fast forward, pocketcast used to skip forward, and resume playing.
Since the latest version of pocketcast this is broken. When I double tap, it does skip forward, but will not play. Even a single tap will not resume playing. Need to go to the phone to get it to start playing again.Tried on Sony link buds S and it works fine.

According to a response on GitHub, this has been fixed and that fix will be available in 7.77.1

That’s correct, @hoskij8110c0855b! We pushed a fix for 7.77.1
Thanks for taking your time reporting this on Github.

Android Version 7.80 (9303)
Pixel Buds ProI came here to see if anyone had already reported this problem and found this thread saying it has been fixed… but I’m still experiencing it. For me, it behaves slightly different than the original post. A double tap skips ahead and then pauses the podcast. A single tap will then resume it (unlike having to return to the app as reported by OP). The only difference I can see is that I’m using Pixel Buds Pro as opposed to the Series A.
Is it possible that fixing it for Series A did not fix it for the Pro?

same here.
any double tap to skip forward or triple tap to skip backwards results in a proper skip, but pauses playback. Another tap is required to resume playback. Very annoying.

I’m also having this previous/next/pause issue.

As the original post author, I have seen these responses.
I am just a user, not a dev with PC.
I also encountered the same, more recent problem with my A-series pixel buds.Interestingly, it was after I switched to Gemini. On a hunch, I switched back from Gemini to normal assistant, and PC worked fine. I then turned Gemini back on, and PC broke again.
May want to give that a try. -
We have recently fixed a bug relating to the playback controls on Pixel Buds. This will be available in the 7.82 update. Please let us know if you still have trouble once that update is released. Thanks!

7.82 just showed up on my device and I can confirm that everything once again works properly! Thank you for taking care of this!

Unfortunately I have to report with the latest version of 7.82, playback on my pixel buds series-A is NOT working properly.
The problem occurs when I double tap the right earbud, it skips ahead 30 seconds, but does NOT resume playing.
When I reported it in early February, the problem only occurred when I was using Gemini as my assistant, but if I switched back to the normal google assistant everything worked fine.
With 7.82 the problem occurs whether I am using normal google assistant or gemini.
Please advise if you need more information.

FYI, I have this filed as a GitHub issue:

@hoskij8110c0855b Thanks for the bug report. I think our developers have all the information they need there, but we’ll let you know if we need anything else.

Looks like the latest release (7.84.1) seems to fix the problem with the ability to skip ahead with my Pixel Buds series-A.

Thanks for reporting back, @hoskij8110c0855b! We did release a fix for this issue with version 7.84.1, so I’m glad that worked for you.
