Any way to turn off the collage of episodes in the new Playlists?
-
not really a fan of having the different podcasts as a collage – even if you have only 3 episodes in there it only shows 1
I just feel it should good an option to change it to any picture you want – like Apple Music where you can put any picture you want there …

Hi there, @nr2g98qqxj! Thank you for sharing your feedback about the podcast artwork layout. I’ve added your vote to a feature request we have regarding adding customization options. We appreciate your input!

Please add my vote as well (and votes from the massive reddit thread of people lamenting this change).
This takes up half the view with useless visuals of the four newest episodes that I can’t add to up next, and adds two buttons that should be hidden in the 3-dot menu because they are actions the average user either never wants to use or uses rarely. Then at the bottom are the start of the list I actually want to interact with on a daily basis.
And now I’m afraid I’ll accidentally tap the Play All button and have to deal with the consequences of whatever “Play All” means. Add hundreds of podcasts to up next? Start downloading hundreds of podcasts? Probably not cause that would be insane behavior, but how am I to know? Definitely not the most common action the average user would want even though thats the prominence it’s given on the screen.
Let me turn this land mine off. Thanks.

Agree. It takes up too much space and not helpful at all because all of my playlists have the exact same set of podcasts with different date ranges. Also I never want to play all from most of my playlists

Hi @kinswick, and @novedevon6e7ba5414f! Thanks for sharing your feedback and more details about how you prefer to view the episodes. I’ve added your votes to this feedback request too.

I’d love a way to disable this – for “New Releases” the artwork is just visual noise that fills the screen when I click on the playlist. I want the screen to be filled with podcasts episodes to choose from rather than having to scroll past artwork.

Thanks for taking the time to share you feedback, @mattsbrown! We’re collecting all of these in a report that we can consider for future app updates.

I’d like to either disable the collage, or be able to upload a custom image. The collage isn’t visually appealing and serves no real purpose, but a custom image would at least be pretty.
Maybe the title could be moved above the image to take advantage of the screen real estate instead of wasting it.

The collage and the buttons are useless to me and kind of a dealbreaker as they add zero value and introduce scrolling. I have cancelled my payed subscription. Will be happy to subscribe again once it is fixed.

Count me in on this annoying design change. I have always appreciated the minimalistic approach of Pocket Casts, but this change feels like a copy of bad interfaces from other apps (such as Spotify). When playing an episode, I can now see only two full rows in the list, compared to being able to use the full screen as before. It’s like navigating with a toothpick through a keyhole. Remove the artwork and the buttons!
Pocket Casts team, please be proud of your own abilities and do not copy bad ideas from other apps.

Hi there, @michellejazmin, @heyb0b9a37cf158, and @mrspock77! Thanks for your feedback the new design. I’ve shared this with the team and added your votes to the related feature reqeust.

Please give me a way to get rid of the new Up Next by date and go back to just New Releases and In Progress. I have 3 UP next with dates that I have listened to all episodes, but they still show in Playlists.
-
Hi there, @lcalkins26! Thanks for that feedback about the Up Next Playlists. When you no longer need the list, you can swipe right to delete it. Go to Playlists, swipe right on the playlist you need to remove, then tap Delete to confirm.

I would also like this four square collage to be removed from New Releases. From a user experience or usability perspective, this means that I have to use more clicks and scrolls to view a list of recent episodes. I want to visually skim a lot of recent episodes as soon as I open this screen without having to touch the screen at all, which I was formerly able to do. If you consider Fitts’ law (user experience principles), this new design slows users down.

Hi @chrismartin76,
Thanks for you feedback, like stated before in this thread we are collecting feedback from our users and sharing with our team so we can hopefully address your concerns in a future release.
