App freezes and won’t stop playing

    Same issues with Pixel 6. Only use app with Android Auto using wireless connection. All is “solved” for 2-3 sessions of play with an uninstall/reinstall. But that is not a real solution for the long term as it is annoying.

    I too have exactly the same problems. Not fixed on version 7.46.2. On Pixel 6. The app used to be trouble-free for years, but for the past week I’m having to force-stop it, restart the phone, or reinstall the app on a daily basis. I’ve just disabled Analytics reporting as suggested in this thread. My years of goodwill towards this app are being sorely tested by this fiasco.

    It would be great if someone from the company could provide an update on when they’ll be able to fix the app. Perhaps put something on the https://pocketcasts.com/ front page? Maybe a brief blog post? Or a sticky at the top of this forum? Given the huge number of posts on this forum about the problems and the Play Store ranking cratering with all the bad reviews it seems like a 2-3 sentence communication acknowledging the issue and providing some kind of plan going forward (like – we know 7.46.2 is broken for many users on Android, and we are hoping to upload a fix by xx/xx/xxxx, or we’re rolling back to something prior to the break – something!) would be really appreciated. If I have some idea of when the app will start working again I won’t have to keep checking the forum. I’m sure many people are in the same boat.

    OK Pocket Casts – unless you let us know you have a plan to resolve this issue or at the very least acknowledge the significant issue then… I’m breaking up with you… Spotify is looking good… I don’t wanna leave but….

    I’ve added all my podcast subscriptions to the Podcast Addict app, which seems to include all the key features of Pocket Casts. If we don’t get a fix soon – or at least some kind of news – then I imagine I will soon forget about Pocket Casts altogether.

    I finally got this response to my review on Google Play Store, in which I said that Pocket Casts is currently broken.

    Developer response:
    Thank you for your patience and understanding while we work through this issue with the Android app. Our team is doing everything they can to get the app back up and running for you. You can join our public beta to get early access to the updates aimed at tackling the issue.

    So no rollback option, and no timeline for a fix. If anyone tries the public beta, please post results here. I haven’t got the patience!

    There are other threads here where there has been more information. I’ve used the in-app feedback/log submission feature and received responses from them, including turning off analytics in the privacy settings. The current version of the app (7.47?) – rolled out yesterday through regular Google Play store – seems to have fixed the problem (YMMV, worked for me). So while I was quite unhappy with the issues, which made the app almost unusable, they seem to be trying rather hard to give feedback that can help and to fix the issue.

    Hooray! 7.47 fixes all the main issues. (Still too early to say if it fixes EVERYTHING, but my guess is that it does.) Phew!
