App is blank, stuck in refresh, ver. 7.46.2

    Just downloaded the update and the app no longer works. The podcast icons are black, no loading, no display of settings—just ‘Refreshing…’. This worked fine in 7.45.1.

    I’m a daily listener. I’ve had a few cases in the last week that the app wouldn’t clear the queue, didn’t seem to respond. I chalked it up to the app being open for a long time, close the app, swipe up, then restart the app and it seemed OK.

    Then a little over an hour ago the app went black. No badges or anything displayed on the Podcasts tab. Black on Filters tab. I could see podcasts listed on the Discover tab, but if I clicked on any of them for more info all I’d get was black. Under the Profile tab it was “Refreshing” and I could not see anything under Listening History.

    What didn’t work:
    I tried the close, swipe up, restart.
    Rebooted my phone.
    Open up home firewall to unrestricted access (no ad blocking)
    Turn off WiFi on my phone and tried on mobile cellular data
    Cleared app cache
    Place phone into Airplane mode

    I checked for updates to my phone’s OS/security update, Google Play system update, and Play Store app updates, all up to date.
    Pocket Casts is version 7.46.2 (9140)
    Pixel 7 running Android 13

    I ask my hubby if he’s having the same problem while my phone is having this black screen issue. No black screens for him, but he’s got a Pixel 7 Pro running the Pocket Casts beta version 7.47-rc-3. (He’s had issues (clicking on a podcast would go to a black screen, even on podcasts where all episodes were downloaded) in the past but doesn’t remember what version he had at the time (around Labor Day (US).)

    I go and try using the Pocket Casts (Android) app on my Chromebook, also on 7.46.2. Same black screen problems.
    ChromeOS Version 116.0.5845.168 (Official Build) (64-bit)

    Frustrated that I can’t keep up with my daily podcasts, I go spend time with my cat. Over an hour later I try Pocket Casts again for fun, and the Pocket Cast app on both my phone and Chromebook are working normally and not black. 🤷

    Maybe it’s a backend thing that the app cannot connect to my account?
