App is downloading podcasts in an extra language

one of the podcasts to which I subscribe is the Our Daily Bread podcast. For some reason,a few weeks ago, the German versions of episodes started appearing in my feed…I don’t speak it understand German, nor do I think I configured anything to make it do that. Any suggestions on how to make it stop?

This would typically be because, for whatever reason, the podcast author has included those episodes in the feed. But, if you are able to share a link to one of the German episodes with us, we can take a look for you and make sure there isn’t anything otherwise out of the ordinary happening!
To grab the link, head to this podcast’s page in-app > tap the episode > tap the share-button in the top-right corner > select “Episode” > copy the link and share it with us here. Or if it is a private/paid feed you are subscribed to (such as a Patreon feed), please let us know and we will reach out to you via email so that you can send the link privately instead.

Thanks for sharing that with us! All of the episodes currently available in the feed are in German. A feed with English episodes does exist, however, as the current listing has quite a number of listeners in Pocket Casts and it seems that this change may have been in error, it’s best that we check in with the podcaster before moving forward with any changes. I am reaching out to them now and will give you an update on this ASAP :)

The Our Daily Bread team got back to us and said that they are working on resolving this issue currently. In the meantime, they have suggested accessing the content via their website or YouTube channel. Hopefully they will have the issue resolved soon!

Hello has this been solved as this has been happening to me since October and I reached out to Our Daily Bread and they did say they were aware of it. But it still continues. Thanks

Hi @mlm361! Taking a look at the previously discussed feed, I am only seeing episodes in English available currently: https://pca.st/VpCpfz. Is the podcast at that link where you are subscribed?

@stiffphil & @mlm361 – Thanks for this info. Looking at this podcast yesterday, there were only English episodes available in the feed, however looking again today, I can see that all episodes have now been replaced with all German versions. It sounds like this may have happened at other times over the past couple of months also.
You would be seeing a combination of English and German episodes due to episodes being removed from the feed being temporarily cached on your device (or they are downloaded if you have chosen to do so).
Unfortunately, this isn’t an issue we can resolve for you on our end, so I have re-flagged this with Our Daily Bread and I hope to have an update for you soon! -
Hi @stiffphil & @mlm361 – while the Our Daily Bread wasn’t able to share why the situation is ongoing, I believe I have found a workaround for us by switching to a different available feed. Things have been running smoothly for the past few days since having made this change! If you run into any further trouble, please let us know.
