Apple Maps not pausing Pocket Casts correctly when giving voice directions

If I play a podcast on Apple Podcasts while I have a navigation session running on Apple Maps, Apple Podcasts pauses when Maps needs to speak a direction. When Apple Maps has finished, Apple Podcasts starts maybe a second back from where it paused, and you don’t miss anything. When I’m running Pocket Casts instead of Apple Podcasts, the podcast does pause when Maps speaks, but when the podcast starts again, it seems to start a second or two after it paused so that I lose a few words from the podcast. It’s frustrating because several times I think I’ve lost an important bit of detail from what’s being said. Anyone know if I can somehow adjust this?

  • @branniganphil yes, there’s a known issue for this, as reported here.

Can you confirm if you’re using the Pocket Casts iOS app directly? Or are you using Pocket Casts through CarPlay? If you’re using CarPlay, are you connecting through Bluetooth or a wired connection?

I’m using Pocket Casts through Apple CarPlay. My iPhone is using a wired connection.

Did this problem ever get resolved? It was annoying enough for me to stop using Pocket Casts and go back to Apple Podcasts. But that app has its frustrations too. I remember being reasonably happy with Pocket Casts except for the fact that it lost a few seconds of playback every time Apple Maps spoke.
