Apple Watch refresh data no longer works
-
Have been using the app for years with no problem. I synch my Apple Watch and listen from my watch via airbus. The past few days have not been able to resfresh data and download podcasts to watch (Refresh Data Failed). Any suggestions?

Hi there, @wsteinberg55
Our developers are investigating the matter further. We are looking into it here: https://github.com/Automattic/pocket-casts-ios/issues/2240
We hope to have it fixed soon :)
For those affected, please let us know your Watch OS and iOS versions 🙇

-
Like others, mine now stays in “refreshing” mode and will not get out of it. Runs down watch battery quickly.
-
Thanks for letting us know @wsteinberg55. Would it be possible for you to update the OS version on either or both of your devices, the phone and the Watch?
-
I have been hesitant to upgrade iPhone to iOS 18 due to reported bugs and glitches. Watch will not let me update until I update my iPhone. Do you think updates are the solution?
-
Generally, we recommend staying on the latest version of your phone OS as it guarantees getting the latest security updates. Our apps are also tested against the latest OS versions.
Personally, I have been using iOS 18 for the past four weeks and have not experienced any major bugs.

I updated my phone and watch and that seems to have solved the problem. Thanks for your help!
-
Glad to hear that, @wsteinberg55! We appreciate you taking the time to report back to us too.

👋 Hey Pocketcast folk. I am having this same issue, but I am on a watch version that does not support the latest watchOS, so upgrading is a non-starter.
Is there a fix still underway for this? Is there a ticket that we can track while it’s in progress?
Similar to OP, I’ve been using (and loving) pocket cast for years, and the watch only feature has made for a seamless experience when going on runs.
Wondering if this is still in the pipeline or if I need to look for a different solution for my runs going forward. -
@nroth10 Yes, we have an open issue for this.
If you have any further questions or suggestions, you can continue your discussion directly on the GitHub issue here:

Although it is now working better since I updated to latest versions, there are still some issues. For example, podcasts that I am subscribed to no longer download automatically, like they did before. Now I have to go search for new episodes and download each one manually.
-
Disregard my post above – I checked all my settings and for some reason my Auto Download selections were all deleted. I reset them and they should download now.
-
I have the same issue:
Watch Os: 10.6.1
(Cannot upgrade, Series 5 watch)
iOS: 18.0.1Resetted my watch completely.
App crashes and syncs occasionally only. -
Thanks for already reporting on the GitHub issue, @superhenne! Our developers are still hard at work on this issue.
