Auto Add to Up Next – chronologically within a podcast
-
Hello,
I have a suggestion for an upgrade to the Add to Up Next option. It would be nice if auto adding would keep all episodes from one podcast together in the queue – when “Play Next” is the chosen position.
Here’s how I imagine it could work. In podcast settings if you choose “Add to Up Next“, and position as “Play Next“, then there would be an extra option “Keep all episodes from this podcast together“. If that option is enabled, adding to Up Next would do this:
A. If there are no other episodes from this podcast currently in Up Next, add the episode as next (the current behavior).
B. If there are some episodes from this podcast in Up Next, find the last one chronologically, and add this new episode after that one in the queue. This would be a useful addition, because sometimes I don’t get to listen to the last episode (or few) of a certain podcast when a new one comes out. If each episode gets added as next, then in the Up Next queue they would be ordered reverse chronologically, which is what I want to avoid. I’d rather listen to the episodes from one podcast chronologically.
Just to illustrate this further, here’s an example of the Up Next queue before a new episode comes out:
1. What went wrong #31
2. Hey riddle riddle #120
3. Hey riddle riddle #121
4. How did this get made #241Currently, when a new Hey Riddle Riddle episode #122 comes out (and it’s set to auto add as Next), it would be added to the 1st place. That means I’d listen to #122 before #120 and #121, unless I manually reorder Up Next.
If this suggestion is implemented, Up Next would look like this, when a new Hey Riddle Riddle episode comes out:
1. What went wrong #31
2. Hey riddle riddle #120
3. Hey riddle riddle #121
4. Hey riddle riddle #122 [this is where the episode was auto added]
5. How did this get made #241And the chronological order is preserved.
Thank you.
