Auto Add To Up Next No Longer Working

  • We recently had the following message sent to us by a user:

[…] I’ve noticed a significant issue in recent months: new episodes of my subscribed podcasts are no longer being automatically added to my “Up Next” playlist. Instead, I find myself having to manually add each episode.

It might be relevant to mention that my Up Next playlist currently contains 111 podcasts. I’m not sure if the issue is related to the number of podcasts in the playlist or if it’s a bug that has emerged in a recent update.

When “Auto Add to Up Next” no longer works as expected, we recommend that you first verify your settings under Profile > Settings (gear icon) > Auto Add to Up Next.

Please pay especially close attention to the Auto Add Limit and reference that against the number of episodes you already have added to your Up Next queue. For instance, if you have a limit of 100, new episodes might not be added to the queue depending on your settings.

You can either increase the limit or change the “If limit reached” setting. If you have “If limit reached” set to “Stop adding,” no new episodes will be added beyond the limit. “Only add to top” would make it so episodes at the bottom of your Up Next queue are removed to make room for new episodes.
