Automatic Download Sometimes Doesn’t work

Sometimes when I open the app, there’ll be for example, one or two new episodes, but they don’t automatically download. I have to manually press the download button. I’m using the Pocket Casts app on my Samsung S24 Ultra mobile phone. It happens often, most days. I feel like there needs to be some check built in that checks if new episodes don’t download, and if so, have it try again.

Hi, @cheerfully44d1cd9ae9! Can you let us know which version of the app you’re using? You can check from Profile > Settings (gear icon) > About.
In addition, do you notice if the issue affects episodes from only a particular podcast or show? If yes, can you please share the podcast with us?

I’m using version 8.1 (9396).
I have a smart playlist which captures Released in the last 3 days, and not downloaded.
I’ll open the app, there’ll maybe be 4 items, one just doesn’t download, so I manually download it. It happens with various podcasts.
I think it’d ne useful if a fix was created by checking if a new episodes downloads, and if not to try again. Not sure if it should try again after a few seconds, or based on some error or something that explains why it didn’t download.

When this issue happens again, could you create a support ticket using in the in app help menu, and attach the logs along with it? Let us know which episodes you are having issues with.
