autoplay for up next

Episides in up next are autoplayed by software and there is no option to stop that. We are instructed to use the sleep timer to solve this issue. I believe this a poor choice and that there should be an option under general settings to stop autoplay for up next. As an example why, last night I forget to set the sleep timer and podcasts played for the next 7 hours as I slept.

Thank you for your feedback on this. I’ve forwarded this along to our developers as a feature request. I can’t offer an estimated timeframe or confirm that it will be implemented, but our developers regularly review feature requests for future development.

I have the opposite problem. It used to always autoplay the up next queue and now all of a sudden it’s not and I want it to autoplay everything in my up next queue. There is no setting to turn this on or off and there needs to be so we can set it to whatever we want.

By default, all of the episodes in your Up Next Queue should start playing, one after another.
If that is not happening for you, can you please let us know if you are seeing any errors? Also, what device, operating system and Pocket Casts version do you have?

I am having this issue. Google pixel 8 pro, latest/beta version of app and it’s been going on months across versions. I chose a playlist, choose “play all” and it’s rare that it advances to the next item when one finishes. Often the now playing item shows 4s remaining. I’m finding this increasingly frustrating.

@hawkida I have a few questions that will help us to resolve this with you
- There are several betas available right now. Can you share the exact version you’re on?
- It will also help to know how you’re using the app in more detail. We don’t offer Playlists. Do you mean you’re using the “play all” option in a specific filter?
- Are your episodes downloaded before you play them or are you streaming them?
- Are you using any Bluetooth devices when the issue happens? Do you see a difference in behavior if you are or are not using a Bluetooth device?
- Do you have any custom settings for your podcasts to skip the last or first few seconds? Those are set at the individual Podcast page> Settings

This would be a great feature!
I’d also like to only start the next episode when I press play as often fall asleep listening, but to use the up next feature heavily.

@timclixby Thanks for sharing your feedback! We appreciate your suggestion for a feature that allows you to start the next episode only when you press play. We’ve added your vote to our feature request list. This helps us prioritize features based on user demand.
However, please note that the “Sleep Timer” feature was created for exactly this purpose. You can set the sleep timer to “End of Episode.” -
Me too, want NOT auto-play next episode in playliste. The reason is, I collect epsiodes from different podcast I would like to listen in the queue. So I don’t want to continue with next in queue automatically.
Alternativly, is there a listen later feature to collect interessting episodes for later?

@fenyem Thank you for sharing your feedback! We’ve also added your vote to our feature request list for the option to disable auto-play for episodes in Up Next.
Regarding the ‘Save for Later’ feature, we currently don’t have this available, but we’ve added your vote to support its development as well.
As an alternative to ‘Save for Later,’ you can star the episode, which will allow you to find it in your list of starred episodes.
