Badge option for Filter-based colours
-
This is low priority but a useful QOL and quirky feature.
Badges would have an option to use the filter colour instead of the currently global default.
This would give a much easier at a glance view of what kind of episodes are available.
thanks!

Hi @mcspammin Could you provide a bit more detail about how you see this feature working? Podcasts can be included in multiple filters, so how would we determine which filter colour to use for the badge.
I might be misunderstanding the request, so please feel free to clarify. Thanks!

thanks for taking the time to ask for clarification. You’re not misunderstanding, this is a good point and I did not consider the scenario as I don’t use multiple filters on the same podcasts, though I understand it is possible and used by others.
i can’t think of a good way to determine the “primary” filter from which to take the colour, so perhaps it is arbitrarily the first one. Showing multiple colours as segments in a badge seems like overkill.
the use case would be to notice at a glance “oh I have some new ‘tech’ podcasts and a few new ‘cyber’ podcasts”. I guess if a podcast falls under both filters then showing just one of the colours is enough.

Yeah, I can see how it could be useful if you use filters as unique ‘categories’ for your podcasts, but there are so many different types of filters you could have (based on episode status, release date, duration etc.) and different filters can share the same colour, so I’m not sure how useful it would be in practice.
Anyway, we’ll certainly keep this in mind as we continue to work on filters/badges. Thanks for the suggestion.
