Big: Episodes starting at or near the end and immediately deleting

    I’m occasionally experiencing unplayed episodes that start near the end of the episode and essentially end and delete immediately. So in other words, even though I haven’t played an episode at all, it doesn’t start at 0:00, but might instead start halfway through or more often with just a few seconds left so the episode ends almost immediately and is deleted, at which point I have to go back in and re-download it.

  • Hi, @adamcjohn! Can you please share the following information with us?

    • The OS version on your device – you can usually find this from your phone’s Settings
    • Your Pocket Casts app version – you can see this from the Pocket Casts app’s Profile > Settings (gear icon) > About
    • An episode you’ve experienced the issue with – from a podcast’s page, you can click on the episode to expand its details, then click on the Share icon in the upper-right corner of the screen

  • Can you check if you might have any “Skip first” settings for the podcast?
     
    You’ll find “Skip first” settings by heading to the podcast’s page in the app and clicking on the settings icon next to the green checkmark icon. If you do have anything in the “Skip first” settings, please change it to 0.

    Hi! No, the Skip First setting is not enabled.

  • Thanks for checking, @adamcjohn! I haven’t been able to replicate the behavior you’ve experienced, even testing with the episode you linked to. So, let’s see what else might be happening here.

    When you have experienced this issue, have you been using a Bluetooth device? Can you please test completely disabling Bluetooth in your phone’s settings? Then, please only listen from your phone’s speakers. For context, sometimes, Bluetooth devices can send unexpected commands to the app, so we want to rule that out.

    Just to confirm, does this happen with all podcasts or just specific ones?

    Also, how often do you notice this happen?
