Bottom buttons covered by Android Navigation Bar buttons
-
Pocket Casts bottom buttons (Podcasts, Filters, Discover, Up Next, Profile) are layered underneath the Android Navigation Bar buttons (Overview, Home, Back) and therefore cannot be clicked.
-
Came here to report the same behaviour. App became instantly unusable, as Filters, Discover, Up Next, are behind the Android navigation buttons (square, dot, triangle).
- Android Version 10 (yes, old, don’t need new $$$$ phone, sorry). Redmi 9, MIUI 12.0.2
- Pocket Casts v 7.92 (9352)
If you need a log or something else to forward to, to make debugging easier, please let us know how and the email.
Thank you very much in advance,

Came here to search for this very bug! It seems like it just started happening recently.
Pocket Casts v 7.92
Android version 10 (like the previous poster said, I don’t need a new phone and I LOVE my perfectly functioning Moto Z4).
-
btw: for me, this only happens in Portrait mode. So for now, until it gets fixed, you can at least put your screen in Landscape mode and be able to access the Pocket Casts buttons as needed.
-
The app doesn’t rotate into landscape mode when I rotate the phone. Is there a special way of doing this?
-
-
I came to report something else, and saw this thread. I have also experienced this issue intermittently. The app does not rotate into landscape for me. Yes, I have auto-rotate on.
Optimizing using Samsung Device Care seems to fix it.
-
My phone has been on auto-rotate since I purchased it. (I’m not THAT much of a tech n00b.)
-
okay, i found a temporary solution: see if you can tap on the extremely slim row of pixels between the top of the PC buttons and the top of the Android menu. you may have to use a stylus. that should get us through until it’s fixed.

I believe you may be correct about auto-rotate not working in v7.92. I’ve seen other users complaining about that in the Reviews section on Google Play. I also recall seeing a comment from the developer where they mentioned that they had intentionally (temporarily) disabled it until they resolve some other issues with the UI.
I’m using a beta version, 7.93-rc-1 (9353), and auto-rotate works perfectly. You may want to consider joining the Beta program on Google Play, and you should be able to download this same version.
-
We have confirmed a bug in 7.92 where the UI overlaps with the Android buttons. This issue is fixed in 7.93.
-
Been having this issue since the 7.92 a few days ago because I have auto update enabled, but this showing as ‘up to date’ via Google Play. Is there a way to force update of the app to the 7.93 or do I have to wait until it becomes available via Google?
-
@seajaycampbell 7.93 is currently only available in beta. You could opt in to our Beta program to get the update https://support.pocketcasts.com/knowledge-base/beta-testing/

-
Yeah, my phone is also running on Android 10, and the overlapping Nav Bar buttons is happening on the 7.92 version with me too. You can still tap the buttons, but the buttons need to be tapped in a specific spot in order for the button input function to register. It’s very annoying.
BTW I am enrolled in the beta testing program on Google Play for Pocket Casts. The 7.93-rc-1 version DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. 😕
-
Hi there, @thethingking91! I’ve shared your feedback with the team that is working on this issue. Thank you for taking the time to test the beta version.
-
Yes, I’m also running beta version 7.93-rc-1 (9353), and I can confirm that it does not fix the UI overlapping problem.
-
@johnbeekman Thanks for letting us know.
This should be fixed in the next release candidate. When it’s made available to you, can you please give that a try again?
Also for @thethingking91.

Yep, just downloaded and installed the 7.93 r-c-2 version update, and I can also confirm that this fixes the overlapping Nav Bar Buttons UI Bug. A bonus is that this update provides support for landscape as well. 👍
