BUG: Player stops responding after viewing notification on iOS

  With the recent updates to the app on iOS there’s now a bug such that the now playing player stops responding after viewing a notification of new podcasts that are viewed.

  I have the latest version of the app, 7.56.02, as of 2/11. This has been occurring since early January. Here’s more detail of the situation, a podcast is playing and the player is full screen. The phone screen is off and a notification appears that there’s a new episode. Clicking on the notification takes you to the app and the now playing screen minimizes and the details of the new episode is displayed (and downloaded). Once the new episode screen is minimized, you are returned to the main screen (and in my instance, the list of podcasts), with the player minimized to the lower portion of the screen. When touching on the podcast art to bring the now playing screen back to full screen, nothing happens AND the progress of the episode never changes. You can still stop and start the playback and control the up next queue, but the player cannot be returned to full screen UNTIL the now playing and up next queue is cleared. Once the player is done playing, you can then resume the player full screen and it works as usual.

  I noticed in the recent release notes that the animations for the player were recently changed and it may have affected how the player responds to notifications.

  Hi staff-joey 8,

  I can confirm that the bug described above still exists in version 7.58 with IOS 17.4. Only way to get player to full screen is to close down app and restart.

  You could temporarily try fixing it by swiping up on the mini-player when that happens. That said, we have a fix in the works which should be released in one of our next updates
