China based podcast can not be assessed
-
it appears I can no longer download or listen to any podcasts based in China.
I tried some Chinese language podcasts based outside of China, and encountered no issues.
I tried the China based podcasts on Apple Podcast on my wife’s phone, and encountered no issues.
Could you please investigate?
Much appreciated.

Some additional test from my part.
i just tried Pocket Cast on my old iPad, no issues encountered.
so it only affects the Android version of the app.

Hi @yinanization,
Thanks for the report. Would you mind sharing the device model and Pocket Casts app version with us, so we can investigate further?
Also, would you share the links of the affected podcasts? Thanks,

I am on Pixel 6a, and the version is 7.68.
it is really all China based pods, when I look at the links, they seemed to be from ximalaya.com. maybe that is the common factor?
appreciate the help

@yinanization Can you please check the following?
- Do you perhaps have a firewall, VPN, or ad-blocker active on your device that could interrupt your network connection?
- Please also check your primary WiFi connection. In particular, please see if it has any sort of ad-blocking or filtering installed on it. One example would be this: https://pi-hole.net/
In addition, please try connecting to a different network or even to mobile data. Then, please see if the issue doesn’t occur with that connection.

Hi, it seems the issue resolved itself, I figure it was an API issue on Himalaya’s side.
thank you

I’m still seeing this on Android app. The log shows it’s a cert failure. I’m able the download the audio file using Chrome, with the URL in the log.

@imlycmail Would you mind sharing your device’s make and model? Please also let us know the Pocket Casts app version you have.
If you can share the links of the affected podcasts, that’d also be helpful. Thank you!

Hi, my phone is Pixel 7 Pro. The android app version is 7.69 (9255). The affected podcast is https://pca.st/podcast/7adc23b0-3908-013b-efbb-0acc26574db2.
I tried to check the log from Help & feedback, it shows “java.security.cert.CertPathValidatorException: Trust anchor for certification path not found”.
Please let me know if any additional info is needed.

@imlycmail Which version of the Android OS are you running? Based on the error you saw, your device might not support the security features needed to download episodes. If that’s the case, unfortunately, there’s not much we can do on our end.
