create filter from folders
-
i spend a lot of time listening to pocket casts, I’ve sorted all my podcasts into folders and I have many many filters too.
I would love to be able to choose “create new filter from folder” in the folder options. Or even have the folders appear in the filter options to make it quicker to add multiple podcasts on a theme
Would be so much less faffy

Thanks a lot for your suggestion! I’ve just put it on our feature request list. So, there’s a good chance you might see it included in one of our future releases. Our developers always take into account the number of requests a particular feature gets while planning for every release.
I’m going to keep this request active for others to vote on, which could boost its chances of consideration.

Yes, this would be amazing! I asked for this last march and doesn’t look like it has made it’s way yet. I have a number of files and it’s hard to juggle the files that keep getting removed from up next anytime you play another podcast episode directly

Thanks for the feedback, @ccvqjbpkxg!
I’ve added a +1 to our ideas board so our developers can see that more users are requesting such a feature :)

Actually, I think this feature should be accessible in two ways: From the regular filters interface, and also from the folders interface. From within any given folder, there should be a button/option to tap that will show the latest episodes (or whatever default filter the user chooses) for everything in that folder.

And maybe don’t call it (just) “filter” from within a folder. That might limit discoverability. Something like “Episode List” would be better. And then the filter options will be obvious the first time someone uses that feature.
(Sorry for the multiple comments, I just keep thinking of things.)

Yes, great ideas! There’s no easy way to organize files other than adding to the up next queue, which can randomly get wiped out if you access any other filter or playlist directly

No need to say sorry, @dave314159 😄 We love it when folks share more details about what they’d like to see. I’ve made sure to add all your comments to our report, as well as @ccvqjbpkxg’s latest one!

+1 for a very much needed feature. Folders don’t seem super useful without some way to create playlists from them. And filters are too hard to setup when I have to add every podcast individually.

I completely agree with this. Everytime I am in a folder I wish I could see an episode list.

I was surprised to find this wasn’t a feature already. Given it’s one of the few podcast apps with folders in, it would make sense to maximise the value of them. Things like view latest episodes by folder and within folders, create filters by folders, create folder playlists etc. You’ve got a competitive advantage with folders against your competitors, so why not make the most of the possibilities?

@mpstocker thank you for your feedback on this! I’ve added your comment to the feature request!

I’m a long-time Pocket Casts user (lifetime subscriber, Pocket Casts Champion) and I would like to give my 👍 for this feature.
At the moment, I manage duplicate folders and filters, and it would be oh-so-nice if I could select folders in the “Filter by Podcasts” screen and it would behave the same as if I had selected all of the podcasts contained in the folder (kept up to date when the folder changes of course).

In my opinion this is the one thing that would make your app (both web and phone) more usable. I have folders with up to 20 podcasts in them and there’s no way for me to see which podcasts in that folder have new releases. I have to go through them manually, which seems like an obvious issue and raises the question of why we even have folders if we can’t use them to sort episodes. This feature has been requested a lot:
https://forums.pocketcasts.com/forums/topic/create-a-filter-based-on-a-folder/
https://forums.pocketcasts.com/forums/topic/feature-request-folders-in-filters/
https://forums.pocketcasts.com/forums/topic/feature-request-folder-specific-new-releases-layout-view-filter/
It would be so useful if each folder had (1) a list of podcasts and (2) a list of episodes. Are changes still being made to the app?
