Deleted episodes can’t be removed from downloads
-
Hi,
I noticed a bug in one of the new releases. Archiving a downloaded episode doesn’t remove it from the downloads section in the app anymore. Once you try, the download arrow in the details overview of each episode stops working too. Tapping it doesn’t do anything. The episode, when displayed in the list of downloads, appears as faded/greyed out but there’s no way of removing it from the list.
Pocket cast version: 7.91
OS: Android 15 on OnePlus 11

Hi @grimoireweiss1 – I tested this but I’m unable to reproduce the issue on v7.91
As soon as I archive an episode it is removed from my Downloads page.
Can you try going to Settings > Storage & data use and tapping Clear download cache?
If that doesn’t help, could you provide the exact steps we can take to reproduce this issue?
Thanks.

Hey!
I made a screen recording – see here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Uc6Fs8whvc1_h58EuMkIvqtlpFgKENDX/view?usp=drivesdk
Tried to clear the download cache as recommended – didn’t help.
Let me know if you have more questions 👌🏻

Hi there, @grimoireweiss1! Thanks for the screen recording. To help us investigate further, could you share the options you have activated in the Settings > Auto Archive?
These are:
– Archive played episodes
– Archive inactive episodes
– Include starred episodes
I tested this on my Android device and found that when the option for “Archive played episodes” is set to “After playing”, the episodes are removed from the Profile > Downloads immediately. If there is one greyed out, I can remove it from the list after a long tap to select it, then tapping the Archive (box) icon to archive it. Do you get the same results when trying these settings? -
Hey!
The setting in “archive played episodes” is set to “after playing” like in your example.
Long tapping, selecting and tapping “archive” unfortunately doesn’t do anything. But it describes how it used to work for me as well. Still, the episode stays in the download list no matter what I do. It’s very strange behavior because it started suddenly from one day to the next, without me changing any settings beforehand.
What I just noticed after installing the latest version from the Playstore (7.92-rc-2) though is that it cleared all previously archived episodes from the download list. However, the same behavior continues for new episodes I finish. Again, they remain in the list and simply refuse to be removed 😅

Hi there, @grimoireweiss1
This appears to be related to the report we have gotten here: https://github.com/Automattic/pocket-casts-android/issues/4159
Our team is investigating this one further and will look into having it fixed in a future update

Thank you for bringing this issue in the Profile > Downloads section to our attention. Not being able to remove episodes from the downloads list is a known issue, and the fix is underway for v.7.93. Please be on the lookout for the next version release!

Hey,
After installing the latest Version 7.93 I can confirm that the issue is resolved. 👍🏻Thanks!

I would also like to know this. Been checking for updates on the Play store but no updates available.

Hi there, @stephenphilipdee62ea7b0, and @johnnbock! The previous post is referencing the beta version of the app which is available to those in the testing group. However, the public release is already in the works and should be out in later this week or so.
