Distorted sound on Chromecast Audio group when skipping forward or backward

I’ve been using Pocket Casts on Android since 2018. (I bought the app before the subscription model was adopted.) Over the years, 525 listening days according to the app, I’ve had very few problems.
Lately, when casting to a speaker group (a mixture of Chromecast Audio, and Google/Nest Home products), I find that the audio gets garbled, usually on some but not all of the speakers, when I skip forward or backward while playing a podcast (within a podcast). “Garbled” here sounds a lot like the audio effect used in the Star Wars movies to “simulate” poor communication. “Stopping” the Chromecast connection and restarting it solves the problem until I skip forward or backward again.
Tips/questions:
- It doesn’t seem to happen when I use a single Chromecast device.
- I first noticed the problem a couple of months ago.
- It occurs regardless of whether I use the Pocket Casts app on Android or the controls (audio or touchscreen) via the Cast connection (e.g., the hope app or on a Nest Home display).
- Is it related to the “Speed” effect? This was previously unimplemented when casting. Now it seems to work. (I usually listen on 1.2, and I have Trim Silence on Medium.) I don’t know when this feature was implemented.
I’d love for this problem to be solved. It isn’t impossible to use the app as it is, but it’s annoying.

Can you please check your phone app’s settings under Profile > Settings icon > General? In particular, is “Keep Screen Awake” disabled there? If so, can you see if enabling it makes a difference?

As to this point, what happens if you set the playback speed to 1.0? Is there no garbling on the audio?
