DOWNLOAD feature not working anymore
-
About a month ago I started getting download failures. My phone is Samsung Galaxy s9.
Is my device outdated for app?
-
Usually your device’s age doesn’t affect podcast downloads. So I can better get this fixed with you can you share more specifics about the error you’re getting? The following information would be helpful to resolving this with you.
Please, let me know the following:
- Is there a particular error message you see?
- Does the issue happen with all episodes, or just some from particular podcasts?
- Does the issue happen when you’re on both wifi and cellular, or just one?
- Do you have download restrictions for your connection type set at Profile> Settings> Auto download?
- Do you use a VPN or ad-blocker on your device? If so does temporarily disabling it help resolve the issue?
-
I have the same issue with my Samsung phone. There is no error message, when I try to download an episode it displays “0%” then “Queued.” Every minute or so, it just repeats the same displays “0%” and “Queued” like it’s looping.

@judieknitter Can you try the following to fix the download failures?
- Clear Auto Download Settings:
- Open the app and tap on your Profile icon.
- Go to Settings followed by Auto Download.
- Scroll down to the bottom and tap “Stop all downloads”.
- Try Downloading Again
If the download fails again, you can try the second option in the Auto Download settings: “Clear all download errors”.
- Clear Auto Download Settings:
-
Tried both your suggestions, getting the same responses (0%, Queued). Is there anything else I can try?
BTW, I have tried to download other episodes besides the one I’m currently trying to listen to, and none of them will download. I have even tried ones that I’ve already successfully downloaded and listened to. They don’t play either.

@judieknitter do you happen to use a VPN, ad blocker, or network level service like a Pi-hole? If you do, could you try temporarily disabling those to see if that resolves the issue?
You may also want to try connecting to another network to see if the problem persists from there.
-
I don’t use ad blockers on my phone. I do not use a VPN, ad blocker or Pi-hole. We do not have another network available to use.
My podcasts have been downloading successfully for months. All of a sudden that all changed so that nothing works now.
-
@judieknitter thanks for sharing that with us. In a case like this, can you please try going to
Profile->Help & feedback->Status Pageand press ‘Run All’.Please let us know the outcome of your tests.
-
There are green checks next to all the services.
One additional piece of info: when I last tried to download a podcast I g”ot the following error message — “Download Failed. Failed to create a secure connection to the author’s server.”
-
@judieknitter One thing that might be happening here is that the network connection you are using is either weak or blocking access to your feed. I strongly recommend you try using a different connection as a first step here. For example, if you’re on WiFi, switch to Data or try from a local coffee shop or library.
If that doesn’t help, could you let us know which podcast it is? From the podcast’s screen in the app, you can tap on the share button and select the option to copy the share link, which you can paste into your reply.
We can do some testing on our end to see what might be causing the issue. -
I will give those suggestions a try on Tuesday. I am not able to do anything until then.
I will let you know the results.
