Enable Apple-like scrubbing when using car controls
-
I would like Podcasts to replicate a feature in Apple Podcasts when using CarPlay (it possibly does it in bluetooth mode as well but I haven’t checked) which is intelligently ‘scrubbing’ audio when holding either the car’s << rewind or >> skip forward buttons.
When you do this in a car when listening to Apple Podcasts, it skips through the timeline while playing you a quick burst of the audio at normal speed every second or so. This allows you to quickly whizz past adverts of variable length while being able to tell when the normal talking has resumed, and then skip back 10 seconds or so to the start of the segment properly.
Instead on Pocketcasts holding the button is the same as pressing it once, I think. I’ll need to check but it definitely doesn’t scrub.
Until such point as Pocketcasts gets an ad blocker, this could be the next best thing!

Thanks so much for taking the time to describe this in detail and for comparing how it works in Apple Podcasts—that kind of thoughtful feedback is really helpful for us when we’re looking at ways to improve Pocket Casts. We really appreciate you sharing how you listen and what would make the experience better. I’ve shared your feedback with the team so they can take this into account when they plan updates related to CarPlay.
