Enhancement Suggestions for the Filters system
-
Suggestion 1: Additional Filter Options
Currently, the filter feature allows users to filter episodes by:– Specific podcasts from the user’s subscriptions list
– Episode status
– Release date
– Episode duration
– Download status
– Media type
– Marked as “starred” by the user or notI propose expanding the filter options to include additional tags that already defined in each podcast’s RSS feed:
– Language of the podcast
– Podcast category (The list that appears on the Apple Podcasts for creators )
– Whether the podcast is marked as explicit content or not

Suggestion 2: Playback Effects for Filters
Additionally, I suggest allowing users to apply specific playback effects to filters. For example, if I create a filter for podcasts in English or French (which are not my native languages), I can set the playback speed to X1.0 to better understand the content. or the player will automatically trim silence moments in podcasts whose category is “interviews”.
fexample:I have considered that this second feature might lead to conflicts between two filters; for example, if one filter sets the playback speed to 1.5x and another sets it to 1.0x, and a single episode belongs to both filters, the app wouldn’t know which speed to apply. Therefore, my solution is to add the ability to set these playback effects within the folder system instead of the filter system. Unlike filters, a podcast can only be in one folder at a time, preventing any conflicts.
example:
These suggestions stem from a personal need: as a non-native English speaker, I often have to manually adjust the playback speed for each podcast to a slower speed to comprehend the content better. With my proposed enhancement, when I subscribe to a new podcast in English, it would automatically be included in the filter and the playback speed would be set to a slower speed, saving me time and effort.
