Episode artworks unavailable ?

I hoped to see episode artworks displaying in the app one day, but I’ve been a premium subscriber for years and I still see no sign of it. It might be a bug, but the same thing happens on Safari on my Mac, on my iPhone in the app, and on the Mac App. And yet, I see other people mentioning per-episode artwork on this forum.
I could understand if some podcasts I listen to didn’t have per-episode artworks, but ever since I started using the app, I’ve never seen a single podcast with episode artworks. I went on the “trending” section of the “discovery” page, and even then I’ve not seen a single sign of per-episode artworks for the 10 first trending podcasts.
Is it a bug or is Pocket Casts just not compatible with per-episode artworks ?
(I’ve tried refreshing the artworks and enabling the embedded artworks. Nothing works.) -

Pocket Casts does allow you to view the episode artwork for episodes which contain the artwork in the episode media file (e.g. the MP3 file) itself. This can be enabled via Profile > Appearance > ‘Use Embedded Podcast Artwork’.
At the moment, this functionality is only available on our mobile apps, but we hope to extend this to our web apps at some point too!

It’s super weird because I can’t seem to have it working for any of the podcasts I listen to, and even on the top 10 trending podcasts, I’m not able to have any episode artwork showing up. I’ve tried everything I could find on the forum and nothing works.
I exclusively listen to podcasts on my phone via the app so it should work, yet I see nothing but the same artwork for every single episodes…
Maybe it’s really rare that podcasters embed the illustration in the mp3, I don’t really know how it works. In case this is the issue, do you have any plans to support other ways of having artworks for episodes ?
And if that’s not the reason, do you have any way to identify what’s causing the issue ?

Thanks for the update. It is very likely that the podcast author isn’t embedding the artwork in the episode file, which is why you aren’t seeing them change.
We do have a feature request opened to improve this functionality. If we get more users requesting this, it will increase its chances of being added sooner.

I confirm that zhe episode artworks doesn’t show in the iOS app even after enabling the embedded podcast artwork setting within the app. On the other hand the episode artworks does show in the Android app even with the above setting being switched off. This is quite annoying (even not being a critical bug).

Hi, @restio6cee9b77c2! Feature requests are logged internally so you wouldn’t be able to access them. However, this public forum is a good way to get an idea of how much a feature is being requested. I can assure you that it’s on our radar :-)

thank you :). Aaaand hooray :o), the episode artworks appeared in the iOS app after the latest update, so I guess it is not an unresolved feature request any longer

@restio6cee9b77c2 Yes, that’s correct! Embedded episode artwork is now supported in the app! It sounds like you’re all set so I’ll mark this as resolved, but if not you can reopen this thread.
