Episodes autoplay silently when paused

When I pause an episode and put my phone down (with my screen still lit), and my phone eventually goes to sleep, the episode is gone, marked as played and archived, when I pick up my phone again. I have to manually retrieve it and fast forward to finish listening. When I pause an episode and put my phone to sleep (i.e. turn it off, but not off off), the episode is right there, exactly where I’d paused it, when I pick my phone back up. Happens all the time — seems like a bug. I wrote all of this information to Support, gave them what they requested when they emailed me back, but apparently that was all a waste of everyone’s time since their subsequent response was for me to post about it here because they ignore anyone’s email who isn’t a Plus member. Wonder why they asked me for the follow-up information then? So interesting. ANYWAY, that’s the bug I found, and you’re welcome, Pocket Casts. And I wonder if this happens to anyone else.

I was unable to reproduce the issue you’re experiencing. Can you please provide us a few more details?
- You mentioned you’re pausing but from where? From Pocket Casts itself? Or from the Now Playing widget (lock screen)?
- Are you using bluetooth devices?
Any detailed information on how to reproduce the issue will help immensely.

Hi @staff-tedlasso1 and thanks for the good questions. I have easy answers: no Bluetooth, and no widgets. I am playing directly from Pocket Casts, just out into the air, when it happens.
