Episodes go silent halfway through playing.

I have not had this problem for a while now. When I was having the problem it was never related to playback speed, I always use 1x playback speed and I don’t use the trim silence or volume boost features. I could never fix it though, even reinstalling didn’t help. I can’t clear the app cache because I have an iPhone not android phone.

I’ve had this issue for six months. It’s not quite random. Rest is History is badly affected – one in every three or four episodes as are some podcasts on Pushkin (I subscribe to the latter).

I love the app but it’s bad enough that I am thinking of ditching it.

I’m already anxious about the next time this happens again 🤭

Has there been any solution to this problem? I have an iPhone 16e, IOS 26.2, Apple CarPlay in a 2019 Hyundai Kona, connected by USB cable. This happens intermittently, don’t think it’s any particular podcast. I can usually clear it by shutting the app down and restarting, not a good idea while driving.

I’ve had this issue for a while and can report that it is definitely still happening. It happens in different podcasts, often occurs when on Carplay (possibly exclusively), and is apparently unrecoverable even by restarting the app. It’s making me consider switching to a different app unfortunately.

    iOS v18.7.1

I definitely see it on multiple (but not sure about all) podcasts.
    Marketplace gets it pretty often.

Ok I think I’ve found a fix. Not sure if this is the same as everyone else but for me I think the problem is I get stuck with an incomplete download. To fix it, I pause playback then find the episode and choose remove download. Then I download the episode again, wait for it to complete and unpause and it plays fine.

I think in some cases I haven’t been able to remove the download so I quit that app and re open. Then it removes without problems.

Thanks. This makes sense that it would be related to an incomplete or somehow corrupted download. I think I get the issue most often when I start a non-downloaded episode streaming when I get in the car. So it makes sense that the possibly unstable network connection (and maybe a switch off Wifi) might yield an incomplete download.

It’d be great if the app could detect this incomplete download and somehow recover.
