Episodes Visible on Web but not Android Client
-
Hi,
I am working my way through an older podcast that’s switched platforms/providers a few times, but has been stable for a while – Critical Role. I apparently reached the end of the episodes on one provider’s podcast and had to find the current one.
In the discover tab on the Android client I tried searching for just the podcast “Critical Role” and searching through the several items that came up, but none of them contained my next episode of campaign 2 episode 20. Then I tried searching for “critical role 20” and found other campaigns’ (season) episode 20s, but not campaign 2. So I tried searching on a web browser on my PC and found the official links for the different platforms and it provided a link to PocketCasts. All the episodes were there, but when I looked at the same podcast on my phone it only contained 2 episodes. I logged into the web client and subscribed to that podcast, resynced on my phone, and still only 2 episodes. I then added the next episodes to my queue with “play last” and resynced. I was then able to see just those episodes in my queue (but not on the podcast). I downloaded them from my queue and then just those episodes showed up in the podcast. I double checked that I didn’t have hide archived episodes checked.
The podcast I was listening to episodes 1-19 on: https://play.pocketcasts.com/podcasts/c0110620-a355-0138-e671-0acc26574db2
The podcast containing the episodes going forward: https://play.pocketcasts.com/podcasts/1cdb80d0-180f-0137-f265-1d245fc5f9cf

The first link you provided belongs to a show called “Critical Role & Sagas of Sundry” while the second is “Critical Role”. They appear to be different shows.
Here are their respective Apple Podcast links for comparison:

Yes, but they’re the same show, Critical Role, that’s moved between different podcasts because of some licensing and production changes in the show. So I’ve had to bounce around between several podcasts to find the next episode sometimes (I’m about 7 years behind). They’ve been stable for a while, but I started out on older ones. 🤷♂️
The issue I had was on my Android client, it wasn’t updating or showing historical episodes for the current one (the one with the black icon). I could see them on the web client though. I tried doing the pull down resynch from the main podcast list, but that didn’t seem to do anything. I also checked to make sure they weren’t hidden under the archived checkbox.
Today when I checked, the episodes are visible but all marked as archived. So something must have updated or resynchronized somewhere. Is there a manual way to force a particular podcast to update all the episodes in the Android client?

@cuppm thanks for confirming!

You can try unfollowing the podcast, and then re-following it. That should purge the cache, but will also remove your listening history and downloads.
Other than that, it is maybe a case where you are signed into different accounts on the web and Android? Might be worth checking
