Expanded Android Widget Options

  I love having my Podcast Player as a widget on my home screen. The functionality and appearance of such a widget is easily one of the top factors in choosing a Podcast app for me.

  The Pocket Casts widget is adequate, but I wish it had the following features:

  • Customizeable buttons (can add/remove/reorder)
    • Play Next
    • Play Previous
    • Playback Speed
    • Sleep Timer
      • If pressed while already active, adds X minutes (customizeable)
      • If held while already active, cancels Sleep Timer
  • Background transparency setting

  I just remembered some more important features I’d really like on the widget:

  • Episode name
  • Playback progress
  • Time remaining/episode length
•
