Feature – Identification of where Audio will be output

    Issue
I have headphones that can sometimes take a couple of seconds to connect the audio, even when android indicates that the bluetooth connection has been established.
Sometimes I think they have fully connected, and press play in Pocketcasts, but I’ve jumped the gun and get a sudden audio output from the phone, which is not wanted, especially when in a public space.

    App Version
    Android – Version 7.96

    Potential Solution
In the player, we could see an indication of where the current audio output is.
I’m not sure if identifying apps that perform similar is helpful, or potentially even problematic, but there are apps that do this audio output indication, including the persistent android media notification.

  • Hi there, @beady2k43a1012857! Thanks for that thoughtful feedback. I’ve added this to a feature request we have regarding managing bluetooth connected headphones. You’re right, it can take a few seconds for the bluetooth connection to activate on some devices, so waiting a few seconds before pressing play is best. If you find that your connection takes more than three seconds or so, you may need to pair your headphones again. You can also test disabling power saving mode on Android to see if that reduces the connection time.
