Feature request: add additional filter criteria for “in Up Next”

Hi there! I’d love to see an additional filter criteria to help me better triage incoming podcast episodes that are the ones that I listen to infrequently. If you’ve used an app like Castro, this triage workflow is really helpful to selectively pull in podcasts that you might not automatically add to your “Up Next”.

A-tier podcasts get added to “Up Next” by default and that works great!

Everything else, on the other hand, requires me to do a little triage work to figure out what I want to add to my list.

To that end, I’ve created a filter called “New Releases” that shows:

    • All podcasts
    • Unplayed
    • In the past 2 weeks

As you’d imagine, this shows a list of all podcast episodes that I’ve subscribed to. I scan this every few days and archive things I don’t want to hear, or add items to “Up Next” if they look interesting.

To clear the clutter a bit more, I’d love the ability to filter out items that are already in my “Up Next” queue. This could be another filter option across the top, something like that. If my above-mentioned New Releases filter could instead show:

    • All podcasts
    • Unplayed
    • In the past 2 weeks
    • Are NOT in Up Next

I’d then be able to view a quick list of anything I haven’t already added, essentially swiping from the left to add to the queue, or from the right to archive and remove. Easy peasy.

Thanks for listening and thanks for making such a wonderful product.

  • Thanks for the kind words about the app, @danielandrews! I really appreciate the detailed message as well, as you clearly explain why this particular feature would be useful for you. I’ve made sure to share your comments with the rest of the team. Thanks again!
