Feature Request: Android Wear OS playback control with android device

I understand the android wear app is fairly new and still being worked on. I just wanted to request if we could get playback support from the android wearOS app on the smartwatch with the android device.
I used this alot when i was using the apple watch pocketcasts app and my iphone. being able to rewind or skip parts of the pockets with my apple watch was so crucial for me. I hope this ability can be added in future releases.

Is there any update on the timing of this feature? I just subscribed to get the wearOS app, butter only did so because I assumed shared payback control was a given.

We don’t have an exact timeline for this. Our developers consider features for every release based on the number of requests we receive. If more Pocket Casts users like you request this feature, the likelihood of us building it increases.

I am also very interested in being able to control Pocket Casts on my phone from an Android Wear watch. I would like to be able rewind, fast forward, play and pause the podcast playing on my phone. When I saw the screenshots on the Play store, I thought the player controls in the Android Wear screenshots would control my phone. That would be much more useful to most people than another standalone player. Hopefully this can be added by the end of the year. I love using Pocket Casts and look forward to this feature. Thank you for developing such a nice app.

Big +1 to this FR. The wear os app doesn’t have much value to me unless it can control playback on the phone.

This would be my top feature request too. I use a good mix of listening from my phone with watch as a control as well as listening from my watch with downloaded podcasts. Adding skip/backup support for the default WearOS media controls would be nice!

coming back from a year with iphone and apple watch, to pixel + pixel watch. I used the remote control on the apple watch all the time! need this as an alternative on wearos asap.

I believe the newest version of wear os (5.1) is adding support for customizable media controls as well, hopefully this makes it easier to implement this.
