Feature Request: Check for Missing Files

I have been using PocketCasts for several years now, have a lot of episodes downloaded, waiting for me to get around to them. I had an issue with my phone at one point, and some of the files were corrupted/deleted through the file system, but without changing their status in PocketCasts.

It would be really useful for there to be a function to run which just checks if the file that PocketCasts believes is downloaded is actually there, and if it can’t see it, changes the status to Missing, or something like that. If I could see what is missing, I could make a decision on what to re-download, and what to skip.

Under the current structure, I don’t know a file is missing until I start to play it, and it just fails to play. I then have to manually “delete” the file in the app, before I can ask it to download it again.

Having posted this, I just went looking further, and found Fix Downloads, which I swear wasn’t there last time I looked! I’m trying that now, to see if it solves my issues.

  • @markboynz I think you might be referring to “Retry Failed Downloads” from the iOS app’s Profile > Downloads > three-dot icon on the upper-right corner. Please do try that out, and let us know if it works for your particular needs! Otherwise, we’ll still be happy to file a feature request on your behalf.
