Feature Request: Creating chapters from show notes

  Some shows add timestamp information in their show notes. For the episodes that don’t already have chapters included, but have timestamp information in the show notes, it would be an enhancement if Pocket Casts could take the timestamp information and create chapters within the app for that episode. I believe Podcast Addict does something similar.

  I have a question for Pocket Casts staff: has this been fully implemented? You can now click the timestamps in the show notes to jump to that chapter, but the only podcasts I listen to that put their chapters in the show notes also use ID3, Podcasting 2.0, and Podlove chapters, so I can’t tell if the show notes chapters would actually get scanned and put into the chapters tab.

  @staff-cara I was just curious if chapters are getting created from show notes timestamps, or if the timestamps are just linked to the places in the episode. I can’t tell from the podcasts that I listen to that use show notes timestamps because they also use ID3, P2.0, and Podlove chapters.

  Hi @kapods22,

  You’re right to observe the different ways chapters can be delivered. We do have support for ID3 chapters in our apps and on the web. However, whether or not you see chapters depends entirely on the podcast and how they provide that chapter information.

  To answer your specific question, Pocket Casts currently doesn’t support automatically converting timestamps in show notes into chapters.
