Feature Request: Custom Playback Effects for Uploaded Files

Hi Pocket Casts Team,
First off, I love using Pocket Casts, especially the powerful Playback Effects feature and the ability to upload my own Files. It’s great having all my audio in one place.
Currently, the Playback Effects (Playback speed, Trim silence, Volume boost) can be configured in two ways:
- Globally: Applied to all podcasts and files by default.
- Per-Podcast: Using the “Custom for this podcast” toggle within a specific podcast’s settings.
I’ve noticed that the Files feature (where users can upload their own audio via the web player or Profile > Files section) currently only uses the global Playback Effects settings. There is no option to set specific playback effects just for these uploaded files, separate from the global defaults or individual podcast settings.
My Feature Request:
I would like to request the ability to set custom Playback Effects (Speed, Trim Silence, Volume Boost) specifically for uploaded personal files. This functionality would ideally mirror the way users can currently set custom effects for individual podcasts.
Why this would be useful:
Personal files often contain different types of content than podcasts and benefit from different playback settings. For example:
- I might upload audiobooks or lectures that I prefer to listen to at 1.2x speed, while my global podcast speed might be 1.5x or 1.8x.
- Some personal files (like recordings of meetings or personal memos) might benefit greatly from Trim Silence or Volume Boost, whereas other files (like uploaded music tracks) definitely wouldn’t.
- Having separate settings for Files would prevent the need to constantly adjust the global settings back and forth when switching between listening to podcasts and personal uploaded content.

I agree the app really needs this feature! Either by treating “Files” as its own podcast or an option to select Playback effects per file.
Most of my files are audiobooks that I want to listen to at a different default speed than my podcasts.
