Feature Request: Output-Device-Specific Playback Effects

Just as how we have Podcast-specific Playback Effects, it would be nice to have Device-specific Playback Effects. Just as some podcasts are easier or harder to hear at different speeds, listening in different situations can be easier or harder at different speeds. I’ll often listen to podcasts on my headset at 1.5x, but when I switch to my phone’s speaker or to a Bluetooth speaker, I want it to play at a slower speed so it’s easier to hear.

Request that we have a settings page where we can Playback Effects for recognized Output Devices, e.g.

    • Headset: No override (use current settings, podcast override)
    • Nightstand Speaker: 1.0x
    • Car Speaker: 1.0x, Volume Boost

When a device and a podcast both have Playback Effects, either prioritize the device’s, or maybe have an additional checkbox on the device screen to choose whether the device or the podcast effects have priority.

Thank you for the new “Feature Request” forums, if I’m seeing this right? 🙂

(Replying to both of my new “Feature Requests” from yesterday since I think they’ve just been moved and this area is new) Cheers

  • This is an interesting suggestion, @joshhoey. Thanks for sharing it! I’ve opened a feature request for this on your behalf.
