Feature request: Playlists
-
-
Once again I come back to this forum, as this is not yet implemented, although is tagged as Solved.
I only come back since I try to create a playlist with the filters, but can’t even create a simple playlist based on a keyword. Time to move to another player, it’s been too long.

Hi there, @wnavarrobr, @marcotonoli1969! Do you mean the thread was marked as solved? If so, that doesn’t reflect the status of the feature request. The Playlists is a feature the team is actively working on.

We’ve been told a couple times now that it’s being actively worked on. Can you give us any clue as to when it might be available?
-
@swarlesdarwin, unfortunately, we don’t currently have an estimated timeframe for when you can expect the feature, but hopefully our developers will have more to share soon.

It’s strange that this feature is not available on the podcast apps I’ve tried. It’s the only reason I’ve been trying different apps. I see that this thread dates from 2 years ago and there is nothing there in Pocket Casts yet.
As a user, I would like to group episodes from several podcast shows together into one playlist by topic, so that I could play the episodes in sequence, pause, and resume again later without having to build the whole list again. I might listen to the whole playlist over several months. For example, if my interest is King Henry VIII, I might have relevant episodes from 4/5 different History podcasts in the one playlist.
I’ll follow this with interest, grateful for any updates, and happy to elaborate further if necessary. -
This is a feature I’m often thinking about, while juggling hundreds of episodes backlog.

I’ve not given up hope yet, it would be really good if this arrived before the end of the year because that’s when I always feel like I need it the most.

+1 from me, too! I’d love to be able to build playlists for a variety of purposes. There are different podcasts I listen to in different moods and situations, so it would be great to organize multiple queues for “fun” vs “news” vs “sleep” podcasts for example. As someone who likes to listen to podcasts to fall asleep, it kind of annoys me that I have to take everything else out of my up next playlist every evening to keep them from waking me back up when my sleep episode ends, and then rebuild it again in the morning for my normal daytime listening.

@mikerockwell Is there a roadmap indicating when the feature will be released?
Could you give us some insight into its priority level and what other features it is competing with?
