Feature request: Playlists
-
I spent some time looking at podcast apps this week and found that Spotify supports playlists for podcasts. I’m using the free version and it works for me. I had assumed I’d have to pay but I think that only applies to streaming music. So, I thought I’d update here, for anyone looking for playlist support. Maybe if will come to Pocket Casts too but this is an old thread, and there has been no indication of a timeline for it.

@xim123 @gesahbfr @raytomany this feature is currently available in our public beta on Android and you can expect it to be released publicly within the next couple of weeks on all platforms.

@paulh1971 We don’t have any immediate plans to implement this, but it is something our developers are aware of. Hopefully we’ll be making some movement on that front at some point in the future. :)

I suspect it is more troublesome to implement than I think or you’d have done it when the first rollout of smart playlists shipped but.. any chance we will ever get the ability to filter/create a smart playlist based on keywords in a podcast title? this single feature would make my podcast listening life so much easier that if this actually exists somewhere I’d switch right now even if I lost like 98% of the features in Pocket Casts today.

I’ve been back here a few times requesting the manual playlists feature. This time I’m just coming back to show appreciation for finally having this added to Pocket Casts. Thanks for hearing the community, it is a great addition to have this implemented, and I’m genuinely happy about it.

Hi team,
Smart playlists can now be created on the web app, which is great progress. However, it’s impossible to click on them to display or play the contained episodes—unlike on mobile apps.
This forces manual scrolling through hundreds of podcasts to find new episodes, or using Discover search, which isn’t ideal for desktop workflows.
Please prioritize making smart playlists fully interactive (clickable/expandable) on web/desktop. Thanks!
