Feature Request: Sleep Timer usability
-
Heyho. I’m coming from Podcast Addict, which allows tons of modifications, and comes with some really nice features that I miss on Pocket Casts. I was searching for a cross-device sync, so I found your app to be nice for that :)
Features I miss:
- if i start a podcast in a certain timerange, eg. between 23:00 and 04:00, the sleep timer is automatically activated
- if the sleep timer ends, there is a short vibration to gently signal the end of playback time, THEN the volume fades slowly. I had it set to 20sec on Podcast Addict.
- i can add playtime to my sleeptimer by shaking the device, ANYTIME during audio playback. Eg. even if the fade-out started. Therefore it’s important to have the vibration + slow fade. This has some users confused with the current design, judging by an older post: https://forums.pocketcasts.com/forums/topic/sleep-timer-does-notrestart-after-shaking-the-device/
- Also there is some feedback, that the sleeptimer did reset. Vibration or gentle chime, so I know my actions were sufficent and I can stuck my arm back under the blanket
- Settings for vibration intensity and required shake intensity would be nice, but not that important. I audaciously assume from the app, you’re going for a cleaner UI than lots-a-settings
User-Experience with Pocket Casts so far: Have to start sleep timer manually, listen to podcast, whoknowswhattimeitis, podcast fades – i shake the device violently, podcast stops playing. I have to get flashbanged, find play button to start playback again.
I’m on Play Store Version 8.4 (9404), Pixel 10 Pro, Graphene OS

Hi @staff-cara, thanks for your reply :) I really hope it’s possible for you guys to work in these features in the future. For now I’m happy to be able to continue my podcasts on smartphone, tablet or web with PocketCasts. For my sleepytime podcasts and internet-radio needs I’ll keep Podcast Addict around.
