Feature Request: Tesla App
-
-
Tesla’s new 2024 holiday update allows audio to be played via the web browser when driving. I have yet to test it, but this may allow the Pocketcast web client to be used.
-
@parkerkelley, I had high hopes for this, too. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work. The audio stops as soon as you take the car out of park.

Actually your idea works great! Been running errands for the last couple hours in my Cybertruck. Got the holiday update last night. I did as you suggested and pocket casts works great on the web. The audio does not turn off once you shift out of park. You do get a note that videos can only be played in park, but audio works fantastic. Thanks for this great recommendation!

@traggles @beterlaatdannooit I have added your votes for this feature request.
We don’t have any news on this at the moment, but we will be sure to post here as soon as we have any updates.
For now you can use the web player as suggested here.

@jblokzijl13 I’ve added your vote for this request! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts!

I think I speak for many users in that I would happily subscribe to your Patron level of support for this feature. There is great opportunity for advancement of your brand from Android users as we are stuck in YouTube Music hell for podcasts.
-
@stantonian1 Thanks, I’ve added your vote. Meanwhile, have you tried using the web player, as suggested here?
-
I did, but the performance is less than optimal. It appears to function, but not seamless enough to warrant usage in a vehicle. If you guys want to fire up a kick starter to crowd fund this feature development, count me in.

I’ve also been trying to use the Web player in the interim. It works, but it’s a clunky solution at best. You have zero control of your podcasts except for stopping them. No allowance to go back 30 seconds for example. You need to switch to park if something goes wrong in order to re-engage the web player.
Additionally, (it’s happened to me twice) podcasts won’t stop playing if you receive a phone call. You need to stop the podcast (the only control you have access to in Drive) and then you’re unable to resume unless you shift into Park and go back to your bookmark, wait for that to load, press play and then shift back into Drive. Whilst this isn’t the end of the world at a stop light – it means it’s impossible to do so on a freeway where it occurred for me.

@stantonian1 and @adamdewilde Thanks for the feedback about using the web player. Sounds like it’s not an ideal workaround. No plans for crowd funding at the moment, but we’ll keep that in mind!

+1 for me, please. Not sure why this has been marked as solved, web browser version isn’t really viable.
