Filter ambiguities

    Hi. Long-time paid user here. Just thought I’d chip in with some feedback around the filters… though I’m sure you’re already aware of such things.

    Every time I use the filters…

    1. I wonder why it says I have around 2000 Downloading and New episodes, yet the NewReleases filter shows the expected 100-odd episodes, and the “downloaded” filter shows a more likely 20-50 episodes. I’m sure there is some logical explanation for all these other “downloading” episodes being listed, but its total noise for me.
    2. I can appreciate that this tool can be used in different ways (regarding queuing and downloading of episodes) but for me, the redundancy of ToWatch and Downloaded filters, and Downloaded and ToWatch filters makes the filters page (in the android app) more convoluted than it needs to be.
    3. I find it unfortunate that the android app shows these filters, yet the windows app doesn’t (it shows *some* equivalent functions).

    Thanks for sharing your feedback. I haven’t been able to reproduce the issue you mentioned. Would you be able to share a screenshot that shows this discrepancy in episode numbers?

    Hi @studeimus

    For 1 & 2, you’ll need to review the actual settings within the ‘New’ and ‘Downloading’ filters to see what criteria it uses to list those episodes.
    To clarify, those are custom filters you’ve created as we only include a ‘New Releases’, ‘In Progress’ and ‘Starred’ Filter by default.

    I’m unable to advise what criteria is being used, but you can alter it by clicking on the filter name, press on the name at the top and you will see all of the different settings that are set for the filter.

    Regarding 3, we do have a feature request opened to bring the filters available in our mobile apps to the web apps – I have added your feedback to the request.

    Ok, thanks. I cleaned up my filter list, removing the extras. I presume the extras were from older versions of PocketCasts, since I don’t recall creating them.

    Thanks also for the tip about how to edit their settings… I wasn’t aware to pulldown that filter name to show the settings.
