High Battery Usage on Android

Hello! Love the app, but since getting a new phone I’m having extremely high battery usage. I’m using Bluetooth headphones, and playing episodes that I have already downloaded (ie not streaming), which is the same behaviour I was doing on my previous android phone.
e.g. 25% usage for 2mins screen time, and 2.5hrs background

I’m also confirming this. 19% battery use for 4 mins of screen time, and less than a minute of background (which I don’t believe, I listened to podcasts for about 45 mins today).

Our team has been looking into this and have found a similar situation happening with other podcast players on Pixel devices.
While we have not stopped our investigation, a workaround might be to change the Battery Usage settings for Pocket Casts to ‘Optimized’. We have seen that to help, specifically on Pixel devices.
Could you give that a try and let us know if it helps?

Hi,
I’m having the same issue on a pixel 7. Tried changing battery settings to optimized but then the app stops playing after a few seconds unless I have the app in the foreground at all times. But it does help with battery consumption so I am going with it for now.
