How do I downgrade back to an older version of the Pocket Casts Desktop app?
-
I hate how in the latest updated 2.0.1.0 version of the Desktop app from the Microsoft Store that the play/pause button and seek media controls for going forward and backwards, are NO LONGER INTEGRATED WITHIN THE TASKBAR PREVIEW WINDOW. Instead the the play/pause button and seek media controls for going forward and backwards are in a separate ‘mini player’ that remained pinned on the screen.
I hate this mini player, I much prefer the the play/pause button and seek media controls for going forward and backwards to be directly in the taskbar preview window.
I have looked everywhere but I can’t seem to restore this functionality in the 2.0.1.0 version of the Desktop app itself, so is there a way where I can use an older version of the Desktop app?

Hi, @thethingking91! We don’t recommend going back to the old desktop app. That said, I’ve made sure to share your feedback with the developers so they can look into it. We’ll be in touch as soon as we have updates to share.

Please do keep me updated because the play/pause button and seek media controls for going forward and backwards being built-in within the preview thumbnail window when hovering the mouse over the Pocket Casts app icon on the taskbar is much cleaner and better than the miniplayer.
I’m not suggesting to get rid of the miniplayer, some people may like the option of a miniplayer in the latest 2.0.1.0 version of the Desktop app, I’m just saying please also restore the option of the play/pause button and seek media controls for going forward and backwards to be accessible directly from the preview thumbnail window when hovering the mouse over the Pocket Casts app icon on the taskbar.
In the meantime – Even through you don’t recommend rolling back to the old Desktop app, is it actually possible some how to go back to the old Desktop app?

@thethingking91 the older desktop player is no longer available for download. We’ve made some changes to the backend servers for Pocket Casts sync that will likely cause the older version of the app to no longer function.
But we’ve certainly shared your feedback with our development team and hopefully they will consider re-adding this feature soon.

If the development team do in fact re-add this feature back into the Pocket Casts Desktop app – will it arrive quicker to me if I enable ‘Beta’ within the Pocket Casts Desktop app settings?
-
@thethingking91 Yes, the updates usually reach beta users first before going to the main release channels.

Hi guys
I just updated the Desktop app in the Microsoft Store to the 2.0.4.0 version via the beta channel, and to my pleasant surprise the built-in play/pause and seek media controls for going backwards and forwards, are back within the preview thumbnail window when hovering the mouse over the Pocket Casts icon on the taskbar! :)
I appreciate this. Thank you very much.

@thethingking91, I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying the update and thank you for the kind words!
