How do I set up the automatic deletion of episodes after new downloads?
-
I want to set up a way for episodes for shows to remove themselves after new episodes are downloaded. I dont want to manually delete each prior download or mark as played. Am I thinking of something else?

Hello @damngaryfb5f09b750,
Are you wanting these episodes deleted after listening to them or just when new episodes download even if you have not listened to previous downloaded episodes?
You can turn on Auto Archive in the settings of the app to have those automatically delete after an episode is finished.
If you’re wanting to have those removed even if you haven’t listened to them, I could submit a feature request on your behalf for future consideration as this is not available at this time.

@comonyx246 You can use Auto Archive settings. When episodes are archived, the downloaded file also get automatically deleted. In the mobile apps, you can set this under Profile > Settings (gear icon) > Auto Archive.

Ah, I see. I was looking for an option for number of episodes (like I’ve seen in other apps) instead of length of time (like in pocket cast). But that works for me. Thanks!
This has been my favorite podcast app for awhile now. I tried a couple others over the last month when I flashed my OS back to default, but eventually found my way back to pocket cast.
Thanks for all the hard work and for the great app.

@mowalan we haven’t released any new features with automatically managing episodes like this. But you can use our Auto Archive feature to accomplish something similar.
If you navigate to Profile > Settings > Auto Archive, you can configure Played and/or Inactive episodes to automatically archive after a period of time.
You can also configure this for a specific podcast by navigating to the Podcasts tab > tap on a podcast in the list/grid > tap on the gear icon > Auto Archive. From there you can enable “Custom For This Podcast” to configure it’s settings.

Is there any way to have it delete the episode instead of just archiving it? Every month or so I need to clear out 60GB of space because the files are still there despite the episode being archived.

@realpdizzy archiving is meant to delete the episodes – what operating system are you using?

@realpdizzy Thanks for sharing the device type! In your app, go to Profile > Settings (gear icon) > Auto Archive to check which options you have active. Are you downloading episodes by any chance? You can also check your download settings at Profile > Settings > Downloads.
If you’re downloading episodes you can setup a filter for downloads. Then, from that view, you can select all the downloads and clear them out from the app.
Archiving will remove the downloads, but it sounds like you may be referring to the Storage on your device, not app settings. On Android you can go to Settings > Storage > Apps > Pocket Casts. From there you can clear cache too.
Let us know if you have other questions about this so we can provide the correct information.
