iOS 18: tapping skip back goes back full chapter

    when I’m controlling pocket casts from the lock screen, tapping the skip back button (labeled with a 10, I assume for 10 second skip back) results in skipping back to the previous chapter. The skip forward button works as expected (in my case jump ahead 30 seconds).

    Hi @chuchumonster,

    By default, Pocket Casts supports skipping through episodes, back 10 seconds and forward 30 seconds.

    But, you may have custom skip back option configured. Would you confirm by checking at:

    1. Tap 👤Profile
    2. Tap Settings⚙️
    3. Select General
    4. Edit the Skip forward and Skip back options

    If you don’t see any customizations and still seeing skips, would you share the URL of the episode so we can test it on our end? Please share your device OS and Pocket Casts app versions so we’re on the same page.

    here is an episode where this happens:

    I am starting to suspect it’s whatever tool they use to create chapters as not all my podcasts exhibit this behavior.

    Hi @chuchumonster,

    Thanks for sharing the episode. On my end, I’m unable to reproduce this issue on an iPhone; skipping back from locked screen will skip back specified seconds I’ve configured under General > Skip Back (15 seconds), instead of a full chapter.

    Would you check and share your current setup, so we can try reproducing this issue under the same conditions?

    • What model is your iPhone, and which version of iOS do you have installed?
    • Would you ensure that your Pocket Casts is updated to the latest version?
    • Go to Profile > Settings (Gear icon) > General, and check the following:
      • Player > Skip Back: would you specify this to 10 sec?
      • Intelligent Playback Resumption: would you turn this option off temporarily?
      • Then, try reproducing this issue.

    Let us know how that goes,

    Given the intermittent nature of this i was not able to consistently reproduce the error- I’ll just assume it’s perhaps unique to my setup. I’ve just transitioned to an Android device and have no such issues so I’ll consider this closed.

    @chuchumonster thanks for confirming this with us! I’ll go ahead and close this thread.

    We did make a lot of improvements in our latest version of the iOS app when it comes to skipping of episodes, to that may also help if others are still affected by this issue.

    If others are facing this issue on iOS, please create a new thread and share as much information as possible :)
