iOS 26, Pocket Casts and Carplay

Curious whether others have had issues with Pocket Casts on Carplay with iOS 26? The app does not function when interacting with GPS e.g., it doesn’t resume audio after GPS instructions, etc. I’ve used the app forever and rarely had issues in Carplay prior to iOS 26.

We have heard from others that are experiencing a similar issue. Could you let us know what GPS navigation app you’re using when this occurs?
Also, does this happen consistently — every time turn-by-turn directions are spoken by your GPS navigation app, or does it happen only sometimes?
Does it happen with episodes that you’ve downloaded to your device, episodes you’re streaming, or both?
And do you have any playback effects enabled when it occurs? If so, have you tried disabling those to see if the problem persists? That will help us narrow down to the cause.

I am having a different problem since upgrading to iOS 26. If I use CarPlay the audio is very poor and men’s voices are clipping and buzzy. I tried slowing down playback and turning off settings like removing silence since the problem does not affect YouTube or Apple Music (but Audible does have the same problem). When I drop CarPlay and just use Bluetooth to connect the phone and the car, it sounds perfect (just like other Bluetooth headphones). Hopefully Apple fixes it in the next point release

@nutsoef888ff0aa we’ve had another report of this issue and it’s been reported to our developers. We don’t currently have an estimated timeframe for a fix or any details as to whether it is a system-level issue or something we can address in the app.

Hi all finally got some extended time back in car with the GPS (Waze in both this and the original case) and everything seems to be working fine now. Don’t know whether this was a Carplay update, Waze update or PocketCasts but everything seems to work fine now in iOS 26 for me.

I’ve also been having issues with CarPlay and Pocket Casts on iOS26. It says it’s playing but no sound comes out. If I switch the Music app sound works no problem.
I’m not using Maps/Google Maps when this happens. This issue popped up in the past month, before that I’ve never had an issue, so not sure what’s going on. -
scratch this. it doesn’t appear to just be a carplay issue. i just never use the app otherwise. i just tried the app straight from my phone and it isn’t working either.

@whytealexander we’d be happy to help troubleshoot this! Could you reach out to us through the app by navigating to Profile > Help & Feedback > Contact Support > Get Support? That will send app logs along, which can be helpful when troubleshooting playback issues.
