iOS: How to keep media control from disappearing from lock screen?

I don’t force quite Pocket Casts yet sometimes iOS’s lock screen media control will disappear after only 10 minutes of inactivity. This is really annoying as I listen to podcasts on and off throughout the day. Maybe this is a limitation of iOS since I seem to recall that Android didn’t hide the media control unless I swiped it away.

Does anyone have any tips to always keep the media control visible on the lock screen?

  • Hi there, @bikrrr!

The Media Playback widget on the lockscreen is handled by iOS. It generally will hide it when you do not have any media being played or do not have earphones connected.

Hopefully iOS will improve the way this works in future updates!

Bummer! I feared that it was an iOS issue. I just hoped there might be a setting to prevent it. Oh well. 🤷

I’ve submitted it to Apple Feedback, so if others find this as annoying as I do, they can do the same.

Sounds good! Thanks for the update!

After updating to iOS 18, this issue hast gotten worse. Now, the lock screen media controls disappear after only a few minutes of inactivity. Also new is that it’ll briefly appear when unlocking the phone, only to vanish a moment later.

I know this is an iOS issue and have submitted FB16404319 via Apple’s Feedback Assistant, but I’m sharing here in case others run into the same problem.
